Our Privacy Policy
In designing our web site, we began with this simple yet all-important
principle: Customer Service is our number one priority. As such,
all customer information we collect is used only to enhance and
facilitate our services for you, our customer.
Specific areas from which we collect data include:
- Membership: We ask our customers to become
a Solanova member prior to completing their first purchase
with us. To ensure easy shopping and timely product delivery,
we ask for shipping information including your e-mail address
and phone number so that we may quickly and easily inform you
about the status of your order. Additionally, we ask for limited
demographic information including your birth date and gender,
which enables us to continually update our site to better meet
the needs of our members. Should you wish to change your membership
information, simply click on “My Account” and
make the necessary changes, call our Customer Service department
at 1-800-200-0456, or fax us at 1-415-898-1666 (Monday through
Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Pacific time; closed Saturday & Sunday).
Please also note that due to our quality control practices,
we cannot delete member files. If you wish, you can make
your Solanova account inactive by contacting our customer
service department to request that your account be deactivated.
- Purchases: When you order from Solanova,
we ask for your name, address, and credit card information,
which are all standard requirements for e-commerce-related
purchases and deliveries.
- Create An Account: Customers creating an
account at Solanova are asked to provide their name, address,
e-mail address, and phone number. We also request a birth year
so that we can confirm whether customers are 18 years of age
or older as described in our "Parental Consent" section
below. Customers are also prompted to choose a password for
privacy purposes.
- My Solanova: This section is password-protected
and is only available to visitors who have become members of
our site. It offers convenient features to facilitate the customer’s
shopping experience. See the "Membership" section
above for more information about the data collected when a
customer creates an account.
- My Account allows visitors to edit and update the information they
submitted when they first became a member of Solanova.
- My Shopping History provides a complete list of all previous and
current orders placed by the customer. It also includes tracking
numbers for packages, and offers customers the ability to quickly
submit an order, place a reorder, or cancel an order. This
feature automatically maintains a list of all items purchased by
the member since their first order, making it easier to locate and
reorder their favorite products.
Cookies
Our cookies, which constitute small pieces of information stored by the
web browser on a computer's hard drive, help us track and facilitate
customers' visits to Solanova. Cookies enable us to monitor
repeat customer visits and indicate how visitors found the
Solanova
site. This information helps us gauge how well we’re serving customers
and gives us direction on how we can improve our site and our
service. Cookies also allow us to automatically link our customers
to their personalized accounts, including shopping carts and
Personal Shopping Accounts.
If you would rather we not have access to this information as it applies
to you, please consult your browser’s guidelines for disabling your
cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies. Note that a visitor
who chooses to reject the cookie may still view our site's extensive content,
but he or she will not be able to make a purchase or use the “My
Account” feature reserved for members. Please be assured that our
cookies link only to a member's identification number, which does not
include any personally identifiable information.
Parental Consent
Our privacy policy stipulates that we cannot accept members who are under
the age of 18. Children under the age of 18 are welcome to browse
our site, but should they wish to become members or make a purchase,
we require that they do so through an account created by their
parent. Should you have additional questions or concerns
regarding this policy, please send us an email .
Log on Files
We automatically log IP addresses and session sources (i.e. if the visitor
came to Solanova from an affiliate's site). We do not log the ISP
or the browser type. The information is not logged to personally identifiable
information, or to the member's identification number. Solanova uses
these logs for sales and marketing tracking as well as for system performance
monitoring. These logs are reviewed simply as a means to monitor the overall
browsing and purchasing trends they reveal about our customers, not for
the specific behaviors of individual users.
Information Sharing
Solanova protects account information against unauthorized access
or release. We will not give, sell, rent, or loan any identifiable personal
information to any third party, unless the customer has authorized us
to or we are legally required to do so. Additionally, we do not share
information about the purchasing habits of individual customers. We may
at times share aggregate—not individual—customer data with
our Wellness Advisors and with selected manufacturers and advertising
partners. In some cases, Solanova provides the e-mail addresses of
our current customers to direct e-mail companies working on our behalf.
In doing so, these companies can properly direct our promotional mailings
to the correct customers (i.e. to prevent duplicate promotions). Promotional
e-mails only go out to customers who have indicated that they wish to
receive them; customers may choose at any time not to receive any further
e-mail correspondence of this sort.
Third-Party Intermediaries
To complete credit card transactions, Solanova provides the following
member information via secure communications to CyberSource, our intermediary
credit card processing company: name, billing address, credit card number,
expiration date, and the transaction amount. Solanova also must provide
shipping information to intermediary shipping companies, including but
not limited to UPS, USPS, Airborne Express, and DHL.
Notification of Changes
In the event that Solanova should change its privacy practices or
begin utilizing member information in a manner different from that stated
at the time of collection, we will send e-mail messages to our members
notifying them of the changes, explaining the reasons for the changes,
and offering them the option to either accept the amended policy or request
exemption from it.
